Jo Hollinghurst

Jo's career began as a care assistant before she completed her nurse training in Manchester. On qualifying, she worked in Accident & Emergency, Gynaecology, Oncology and General Surgery before moving to an emerging nursing speciality in the community, within a Police Custody setting. As a new speciality there was great scope to improve services, by using quality improvement activities to innovate and develop. She then moved to managing a newly NHS England commissioned Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), transforming it from a police-led service to a CQC registered, Person-Centred and Trauma-Informed health service. This experience then allowed Jo to take on a national role, across several Adult and Paediatric services, to raise standards, share best practice, and embed a continuous quality improvement culture. Jo most recently was Director of Nursing over a portfolio of health services in SARCs, Police Custody and Secure settings, responsible for an effective clinical governance framework, leading on patient safety and experience as well as promoting workforce learning, development and wellbeing initiatives which underpin excellent outcomes for patients. She is  passionate about engaging, developing and empowering the team, promoting psychological safety so that everyone feels able to contribute to quality improvement by sharing their ideas and learning from incidents to ensure that people feel proud of the service we deliver.
